History I believe is one of my most relished subjects. I am fascinated by how our worlds collided and succeed and sometimes failed. As a freshman I am studying the history of WWI and WWII, and the battles within. I would have to say my favorite part of the history of WWII is the holocaust and how Innocent people were tortured and killed. As part of my Honors English class i have Honors Gl. Studies. In Honors Gl. studies we have a book club were we pick a book in this case our books were over the Holocaust and you have to write papers on what you've read. If you ever have to choose a book for a project choose the book Night By Elie Weisel.

The main character is being deployed into a camp that he has never been to or even dreamed about. Auschwitz. Families were separated by men on one side and women on the other. The main character and his father were moved to a separate side of the camp. there was little food, water and space. So far his father and him are stranded in a camp dealing with almost death crisis’. For example getting beaten till the bleed, or feel completely numb.
This story ties in with my life because even tho the characters are in a bad state of mind, and a bad setting they need to think of the positive things that could happen. Such as getting liberated and not dieing. This Particular point in the book represents a peak that I was in were I thought everything was negative and that nothing would ever turn out right. Everything I did was wrong. As I realized that everything could be worse and the fact that i just have to accept and make everything right.
The part of the book that stood out the most that also related to another book was when the main character began to describe the condition in which you were hung or walking to the fire pit. As this was being described i could picture what he was going through, i felt the emotion that he was going through. I was feeling the sense of mystery that was going through the main characters mind. I could practically feel and image what he was seeing.
I am looking forward to the rest of the book. i have made an educated guess that something not so pleasant is going to happen to his family and he will be left alone not trusting anyone. He will have to start his life over alone. What i would like to see happen is that his father him will be liberated and they will work together to free his mother and sisters, return home and keep living their life exactly the way they did before they were sent to the camp.

As Eliezer's journey subsided or came to an end meals got smaller, fear grew, and more and more Jews disappeared from death, Eliezer was still being taking care of by his father and in the same sense, he was taking care of his father as well. They shared food and tried to spend as much time together that they could because they didn't no when the end would come or they would loose each other.
Just as Eliezer thought his life couldn't get worse his foot began to swell. He immediately went to the infirmary. He was treated by a Jewish doctor who declared two options. Either he get his leg amputated or he could get surgery. He easily choose surgery.
If I were in his shoes I wouldn't know which expressions to show. The questions that appeared in my head were should I be scared? I would realize that I have to options... 1.) if I get surgery and am able to walk and work I could still die or 2.) if my leg were amputated the soldiers would feel that I am useless and I may be killed on the spot. If I were to choose I would go with the surgery because I would have a better chance of gaining a new and better life.
Eliezer and his father were ordered with a large amount of other Jews to board a train. Snow began to quickly fall and the temperature dropped. They were all given blankets and huddled for warm. When suddenly two men began removing the deceased, by throwing them off the wagon. Eliezer began harshly beating his father wanting to simply open his eyes. Slowly his father managed to faintly open his glassy eyes and the two men left.
I believe that I would do the exact same thing. Eliezer has held on to his father for so long, there is no point to give up now. He is so dedicated to taking care and watching over his father. Its the only thing he has left in his world.
After a couple day journey the were taken off the train and put in another camp, were Eliezer's life went down the drain. His father had given up. He was ready to die. All he wanted to do was drink and sleep, nothing else mattered to him. Eliezer couldn't give up, not now after they have both came so far. January 29th his father was gone.
April 10th would start his new life. It began as a confusing morning, being told to go to the block, to line up for roll call, and the worse of all being told were weren't getting feed tonight. Suddenly sirens went off and all you could hear were gunshots and explosions from grenades. Around noon they were free men.
I relished reading this book. I felt it really captured what horrible conditions Jews had gone through. I love the fact that he got out alive and didn't have to suffer another day of hard labor and little food. I would have loved to see how he started his new life, if it even started. Over all the book was very moving and expressed many feelings.
